Today, Wednesday, the Salt Criminal Court imposed a 7-year temporary prison sentence against 13 persons for the felony of setting fires.
In the details, the General Secretariat of the Judicial Council said that a quarrel occurred between two families during which bullets were exchanged, and 13 of them burned a house and a number of vehicles, and 34 people were referred to the court.
The court decided to drop the common right lawsuit for misdemeanour shooting in violation of the provisions of Article (11/c) of the Firearms and Ammunition Law and for disturbing public comfort in violation of Article (467) of the Penal Code, harm in violation of Articles (333 and 334) of the Penal Code, and a misdemeanor of breaching the sanctity of homes contrary to Articles 333 and 334 of the Penal Code. Article (347) of the Penal Code and the misdemeanor of threat, contrary to Article (354) of the same law assigned to the accused to be included in the General Amnesty Law No. (5) of (2019).
She added that five defendants had passed away while the case was being considered, and the court decided to drop the public right case for them, and it was found that one of the defendants was outside the country.
The court decided to convict 13 defendants of the felony of arson, in violation of the provisions of Article 368 of the Penal Code, and of the felony of arson in contravention of the provisions of Article 368/6 of the Penal Code, repeated five times, and placed them on temporary work for seven years, fees and expenses, in addition to obligating them to compensate a total of 59 thousand dinars, fees, expenses and legal interest from the date of the claim until full payment.
The court announced the innocence of the remaining 21 defendants due to lack of legal evidence.
