King meets economic figures at Al Husseiniya Palace

His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday met at Al Husseiniya Palace with a number of economic figures, in the presence of HRH Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince.

And according to what the “Madar al-Sa’a” news agency reported, the economic figures whom the king met are:

Former Minister Azmi Mohafazah.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Potash Company, Eng. Shehadeh Abu Hudaib.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company, Dr. Muhammad Thneibat.

Head of the Social Security Investment Fund Kholoud Al-Saqqaf.

The President of the Economic and Social Council, Dr. Musa Mofdi Shteiwi.

Businessman Karim Kawar.

Head of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Eng. Fathi Al-Jaghbir.

President of the Tourist Restaurants Association Issam Fakhr El-Din.

Assistant Professor in the Department of Business at the University of Jordan, Dr. Raad Al-Tal.

Global expert in food and agriculture, Fadel Al-Zoubi.

During the meeting, the King stressed the importance of the national economic workshop, which will be launched next Saturday, under the title “The Launching Toward the Future: Unlocking Possibilities to Modernize the Economy.”

His Majesty expressed his aspiration that the outcomes of the workshop would draw a road map that would be translated into intergovernmental action plans.

His Majesty pointed out that the workshop’s recommendations should contribute to accelerating economic growth, providing job opportunities, improving services, and empowering the relevant sectors, explaining that follow-up, seriousness and commitment are necessary to achieve this achievement.

His Majesty stressed the importance of concerted efforts and continued cooperation and coordination among all state institutions to implement projects in many vital sectors that contribute to reducing unemployment.

His Majesty pointed out the importance of benefiting from the distinguished relations that bind Jordan with the countries of the region, and enhancing its competitiveness.

For their part, the attendees indicated that developing an economic roadmap requires the participation of the public and private sectors, explaining the need for sustainability in implementing plans according to time-bound programs, and applying accountability in the event of non-implementation.

They pointed out the importance of continuing to focus on training cadres, to raise the efficiency of workers, and to qualify non-workers to enter the labor market.

They talked about the crises that the countries of the region are witnessing, and their impact on the Kingdom, which was able, despite this, to preserve the achievement and continue the progress, pointing out the importance of maximizing the competitive advantages that Jordan enjoys.

A number of attendees addressed the most prominent obstacles that limit investment, which, according to them, require the development of legislation that contribute to encouraging investment and facilitating the work of various sectors, to overcome the challenges they face.

The national economic workshop is being held under the guidance of His Majesty the King, which was included in the message he sent to Jordanians at the end of last January.

The workshop, which will include representatives from the private sector, chambers of industry and commerce, government, parliament, academia, public institutions, civil society, the media, and experts specialized in specific fields, aims to develop an economic vision and a roadmap to stimulate growth, create economic opportunities and improve the quality of life and basic services for Jordanians.

The workshop will cover 17 vital sectors: agriculture and food security, energy, water, mining, communications and information technology, markets and financial services, health care, trade, industry, tourism, education and the labor market, transport and logistics, urban development and climate change, and creative industries. , financial policy, employment, investment and business environment.
