The General Organization for Social Security clarified about the book circulating on social media platforms recently, which reveals the value of the monthly salary of the Executive Director of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, based on his participation in the “guarantee.”

According to the documents reviewed by Jordan News, the festival’s CEO receives a monthly salary of 2,750 dinars, which angered many users of social media platforms, especially since the festival is held once throughout the year.

The Director-General of the Social Security Corporation, Hazem Rahahleh, confirmed in his speech to the “Jordan News” website, today, Tuesday, that based on the decision of the Council of Ministers, any job based on the system of purchasing services must fall under the umbrella of social security and based on the salary that the employee receives.

Rahhaleh added that the Jerash Festival is registered with the General Organization for Social Security as a facility, and therefore what applies to the rest of the establishments applies to the Jerash Festival, explaining that the work of the festival management is not limited to one month during the year, but there are tasks throughout the year.

He pointed out that any request submitted by any facility to amend the salary of any employee is subject, before approval, to the legal and inspection procedures in force in the Social Security Institution.

For his part, the media spokesperson for the Foundation, Shaman Al-Majali, confirmed that the director of the Jerash Festival administration is not linked to his work only for a month a year, as he has an appointment contract and has tasks and duties to perform, whether before or after the festival.

Al-Majali continued: If there are any doubts about his work, we verify this through the inspection conducted by the institution according to the law, and therefore we take the decision we deem appropriate.

He explained that the festival director is covered by the guarantee on a salary of 2500 dinars, and the institution was asked to raise the salary covered to 2750 dinars, and this request will be considered according to the laws in force in the Social Security Institution.

It is noteworthy that the Chairman of the Higher Committee of the Jerash Festival and the former Minister of Culture, Ali Al-Ayed, decided to appoint Mazen Kawar as Executive Director of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, instead of Ayman Samawi, as of September 27, 2021.
