The head of the Amman Municipality Committee, Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, announced, on Wednesday, the completion of engineering studies and the preparation of the necessary plans for the implementation of the Sixth Towers within 8-10 weeks.
The Municipality decided to resume work on the Sixth Towers project by entering as a partner in it by acquiring 31% of the capital of the company that owns the project, according to Shawarbeh.
Shawarbeh spoke of a direct and clear “positive” intervention in dealing with a project that represented a stumbling block, and gave a negative impression on the investment environment in Jordan.
The Municipality has worked for months on studying the issue, and decisive decisions had to be taken, and the direct decision was for the Amman Municipality to intervene as a partner in this company, to resume work on the project, complete it, operate it and transform the project into an effective and working one, according to Al-Shawarbeh.
The secretariat has completed the technical and financial evaluation for the purposes of the partnership, but it is currently working on engineering studies, and an engineering office will start preparing the necessary plans next week, according to Shawarbeh.
Shawarbeh said that the project needs accurate technical and engineering studies, and the preparation of these plans will take 8 to 10 weeks, until a clear implementation plan for the project is built.
The secretariat has a plan with allocating an amount that will be fully pumped into the implementation and completion of the project, as well as “executive studies and plans to assign the contractor to work,” according to the head of the secretariat committee.
The project consists of two towers and a commercial center with a height of 43 floors for each tower. The first tower is the northern tower that will be used for residential use, and the commercial center is 3 floors, while the southern tower is expected to include a hotel and hotel apartments.
The completion rate in the North Tower is 70-75%, but all technical details need to be reviewed to ensure the safety of materials.
And he talked about the existence of traffic solutions that were carried out previously, and will be implemented in the future, according to Al-Shawaba, and the project area extends over 220,000 square meters, with about 1,800 parking spaces.
The project needs 18 months from the time the contractor receives the project.
