The assistant for operations and training, Brigadier General Abdullah Shdeifat and the commander of the eastern military region, confirmed that the borders are witnessing many challenges due to the increase in infiltration and smuggling operations, and in more organized ways and methods, and working under the cover of armed groups, which prompted the armed forces to change the rules of engagement in order to be able to face these challenges.

Shdeifat said in a press statement that the soldiers of the border guards continue day and night to keep the borders of the homeland safe and stable and to thwart all attempts of infiltration and smuggling by force.

Shdeifat added that the eastern military region made many sacrifices in defense of the homeland’s security, stability and safety of its citizens, pointing out that the directives of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to change the rules of engagement followed, and to use firmness and force and all available capabilities, contributed to controlling a large number of cases of infiltration and smuggling, and this was reflected positively. And quickly, as 30 smugglers were killed and large quantities of drugs were thwarted, which failed to pass and spread their poison among the people of the country.
