The “Roskosmos” Foundation announced that Russian institutions and companies are currently working on testing equipment for the “Soyuz-5” space rocket of the new generation.
“On Friday, February 18, the Progress Center for Aerospace Industries sent a fuel tank to the Tenmash company, which was designed to be used with Soyuz-5 space rockets of the new generation, after the completion of the tests, this type of tank will be approved with the first stage of the mentioned rockets,” Ben issued a statement. .
The statement added, “The tests that Tsenmash Sahaky will conduct on the tank’s work with Russian RD-171MV engines during the launch of Soyuz missiles, during which the strength of the tank structure and its ability to withstand pressure and temperature differences will be measured.”
Russia began planning to develop the “Soyuz-5” missile in 2016 as a medium-heavy space missile, the first stage of which relies on RD-171MV engines, and its second stage on RD-0124MS engines modified from the Russian Soyuz-2.1b missile engines.
In 2018, Russia signed an agreement with Kazakhstan to launch this type of missile, as Kazakhstan will undertake the task of building its launch pads at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, while Russia will fully develop these missiles and their engines.
