According to a report published by the Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, a number of cancers can be prevented if people engage in moderate physical exercise for at least five hours a week. The researchers analyzed the number of cancer cases between 2013 and 2016. They then calculated the weekly activities of more than 500,000 people based on information provided by participants themselves in two large national surveys. After comparing the data, the researchers concluded that 3% of annual cancer cases (about 46,000) can be attributed to a lack of physical activity, which equates to less than five hours of moderate exercise per week (300 minutes), including brisk walking and cycling. Water aerobic exercises.
When analyzing individual cancers, it was found that lack of movement may be associated with 17% of annual cases of stomach cancer, 11% of kidney cancer, 9.3% of colon cancer, and 8% of esophageal cancer.
Previous research had revealed that regular physical exercise may contribute to reducing inflammation and improving immunity, which paves the way for a reduced risk of cancer.
