The debt of the National Electric Power Company until the end of 2020 amounted to 5.191 billion dinars, while the number of employees in the company reached 2,193 employees, all of them Jordanians.

This came in the government’s response to a question asked by MP Moussa Hantash to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, through the presidency of the Council, regarding the National Electricity Company.

Regarding the purchase price of electricity from generation companies, the ministry explained that the average purchase price changes annually based on technical matters related to the operation of the electrical system, as the average purchase price from all generation companies for 2019 was (71.64 fils / kilowatt) and for the year 2018 (81.19 fils / kilowatt). watts).

And it indicated that the selling price of electricity to distribution companies is variable in accordance with the decisions of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, as the average selling price for distribution companies during 2019 reached (72.32 fils / kilowatt) and in 2018 (72.62 fils / kilowatt).

The ministry confirmed that the maximum percentage of electrical loss allowed for the National Electric Power Company and the electricity distribution companies is determined by the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Authority and is reviewed periodically, and these percentages are considered part of the cost of the electrical system, while the companies bear the cost of waste that exceeds the specified percentage. from the body.

She indicated that the National Electric Power Company sells electric power to subscribers who are technically connected to the electricity transmission network, whether they are governmental or non-governmental (large consumers), while the rest of the subscribers are supplied through electricity distribution companies.
