Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Youssef Al-Shamali affirmed the strength of relations between Jordan and Egypt, which have deepened thanks to the efforts and visions of the leaders of the two countries, His Majesty King Abdullah II and his brother, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
This came during the meetings held by the Preparatory Committee of the Jordanian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee on Sunday, in its thirtieth session, which will be held in Cairo on Monday, headed by Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh and his Egyptian counterpart Mustafa Madbouly, to discuss all files aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially the economic Of which.
The Jordanian side headed to the preparatory meetings, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Youssef Al-Shamali and Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, with the participation of a number of ministers, the Jordanian Ambassador to Cairo Amjad Al-Adayleh, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply / Chairman of the Technical Committee for Meetings Dana Al-Zoubi, and officials from both countries.
Al-Shamali stressed working with the utmost energies to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields and within the tripartite framework that also includes sisterly Iraq, in a manner that serves the interests of all parties and enables them to develop their economies.
He added that the periodicity of convening the Joint Higher Committee confirms the keenness of the two countries to enhance joint cooperation in various fields and maximize the use of available opportunities to serve their interests, noting that the work is focused on removing the difficulties of intra-trade, stimulating investments, exchanging experiences and cooperation in various fields, especially energy, transport and specifications. metrics, and more.
Al-Shamali pointed out that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries during the first eleven months of last year amounted to 812 million dollars, the share of Egyptian exports of which was 73%.
He said that the agenda of the committee’s meetings is full of files covering all areas of joint cooperation between the two countries in the fields of politics, economy, transport, education, agriculture, specifications and standards, customs and others.
The Egyptian minister reiterated that her country is keen to enhance bilateral cooperation with Jordan in various fields, especially economic ones, as work is being done continuously in coordination with the Jordanian side in order to address the difficulties facing intra-trade and work to stimulate investments and establish projects that serve the two countries.
She indicated that there are wide areas of bilateral economic cooperation and within the framework of tripartite cooperation, pointing to the importance of the meetings of the Joint Higher Committee, which is one of the most regular and effective joint Arab committees to strengthen bilateral relations.
The meetings of the Preparatory Committee were preceded by meetings of experts and senior officials on Saturday, headed by the advisor to the Minister of International Cooperation, Tariq Al-Shaarawy, on the Egyptian side, and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, Dana Al-Zoubi, on the Jordanian side.
On the sidelines of the meetings, Al-Shamali discussed with Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Nevin Gamea a number of issues of interest to bilateral trade and investment fields.
He stressed the importance of translating all agreements signed within the framework of tripartite cooperation between Jordan, Egypt and Iraq into concrete cooperation projects that serve the interest of the three brotherly peoples and serve the joint economic cooperation system.
Al-Shamali pointed to Jordan’s keenness to enhance cooperation with sister Egypt in the field of holding mutual exhibitions in Cairo and Amman for the products of the two countries and the possibility of holding an exhibition of Jordanian products in Egypt during the second half of this year.
The Egyptian minister said that the Egyptian-Jordanian joint higher committee represents a basic pillar for strengthening the frameworks of joint cooperation between the two countries in sectors and areas of common interest.
She pointed to the Egyptian government’s keenness to make a qualitative leap in the level of economic relations between Egypt and Jordan to reflect the level of distinguished political relations between the two brotherly countries.
She said that there is continuous coordination between the ministries of trade in the two countries to overcome the difficulties and challenges facing the intra-trade movement and to contribute to facilitating the entry of Egyptian goods to the Jordanian market and Jordanian goods to the Egyptian market.
