The Food and Drug Administration began taking precautionary measures after the US Food and Drug Administration issued a warning about the presence of Salmonella and Cronobacter sakazakii inside an open and used package of the baby milk product known as “similac alimentun”.
The General Manager of the Corporation, Nizar Mhaidat, indicated that this product is not registered with the Corporation, and it is manufactured on the production line of products registered in the Jordanian market: Similac total comfort, similac elecare.
Mhaidat added that the measures included stopping the sale and circulation of batches number (23393k800) and (25050k800) of the “Similac total comfort” milk product, and batch number (30384Z200) of the “similac elecare” milk product in pharmacies, warehouses and all places of distribution.
He confirmed the withdrawal of batches imported to the Jordanian market from the above milk producers until they are re-examined and the final verification report arrives from the manufacturer and health authorities, stressing that all batches imported to the Jordanian market are examined in the institution’s laboratories before the decision to trade them is issued.
Mahadat indicated that the corporation is following up with the manufacturer, through the local agent, the developments in this regard to take the necessary measures in light of them, which in turn has re-examined samples of the above types of milk. bacteria.
He called on citizens to stop using the above-mentioned milk products from the same batch, as a precaution, until the final verification report is issued by the manufacturer and health authorities, to ensure their safety, and to consult a specialist doctor about alternative milk products suitable for the child.
