Jordanians watched the public debate on the “Pulse of the Country” program on the “Roya” channel, this evening, Sunday, between two former ministers in Jordanian governments, both of whom were part of the economic team of these governments; The first is the Minister of State for Investment Affairs and the former Minister of Labor in the government of Dr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh, and the second is the Minister of Investment in the government of Dr. Hani Al-Mulki.
The two men presented numbers, statistics, and economic academic language, which may not have reached or touched the living reality of the Jordanian citizen who is burdened with debts, poverty and unemployment. This debate was viewed as a ministerial debate that did not go beyond the limits of the evening evening.
In a quick monitoring of the electronic newspaper “Akhbar Al-Jordan”, what was circulated by Jordanian social media platforms, and the interaction of Jordanians with this debate, and if the idea of this debate seemed new and unconventional in Jordanian public opinion between two ministers via screens, most of them focused on demanding practical and realistic solutions to what the economy is suffering from Jordan’s problems and issues.
One of the users of the “Facebook” platform, Malak Dabour, said: “We want a solution, not talk. What is the solution to unemployment is a solution, not talk. We want work and work. We want action, deed.”
In the same context, user Thaer Salah said: “We need solutions after this analysis,” while Ahed Al-Hamayda said, “We want solutions after this analysis,” while Abdullah Al-Bataineh said, “Growth for the rich and against the poor is boring.”
On the sidelines of the debate, Al-Qattamin said that poverty and unemployment are among the most important problems in Jordan, noting that government figures in 2019 revealed that the poverty rate in the Kingdom is 15%, or about one million and 800 thousand poor.
On the other hand, Mansour considered that poverty and unemployment are a phenomenon of low growth rates, indicating that his response through his post on his account on the “Facebook” platform to what Al-Qattameen spoke about the Jordanian economy and in a previous meeting on the “Roya” screen, was harsh and inappropriate, in advance Apologies to the two cats.
