Reports of domestic violence increased by 5.5% last year

The Director of Events and Community Security at the Ministry of Social Development, Ahmed Al-Zabin, revealed that social service offices dealt with 10,982 cases last year, while 10,375 cases were dealt with in 2020, an increase of 5.5%.
Al-Zaben said that the ministry has 19 social service offices in all departments of the Family Protection Department in the various governorates of the Kingdom, and these offices are provided with specialized technical cadres to deal with cases of violence.
Al-Zaben added that these offices provide social, psychological, accommodation, health, legal, financial and administrative services, based on the participatory approach between the Ministry and the Public Security Directorate / Department of Family and Juvenile Protection.
He pointed out that the team, consisting of psychologists and social workers, implements the plan, re-evaluates it and follows up on the case, either through phone calls, field visits, or personal attendance at the Social Service Office to determine its needs and re-evaluate it again.
