Minister of Health, Dr. Firas Al-Hawari, denied any intention by the government to privatize the health sector.
Al-Hawari added during a meeting of the Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee, which was held today, Sunday, Minister of Health, Dr. Firas Al-Hawari, that the goal of the health insurance agreement is to deliver the best health care and health services to the citizen, at the lowest cost, and in a manner that ensures justice, adding that 1.1 million Jordanian citizens will be covered by the new health insurance agreement. Which allows them to visit emergency departments in private hospitals, in return for paying only 20% of the value of the bill.
Al-Hawari pointed out that the review of emergency departments in private hospitals is not conditional on a specific health insurance.
Al-Hawari stressed that the cadres of the Ministry of Health cannot delay the treatment of citizens under any circumstances, saying that the health insurance agreement will also provide job opportunities for young people, raise the value of incentives for health cadres, as well as serve as a model for achieving partnership between the public and private sectors.
He added that this agreement includes the treatment of insured citizens in the emergency of the private sector, such as cases of clots, heart and fractures, and other emergencies, indicating that the agreement is not concerned with cases of treatment in other medical clinics.
