The power of the car battery can drop, as happens with the battery of mobile phones, and this is especially noticeable in the winter season. When should the battery be changed?

Anton Chaparin, Vice-President of the Russian National Automobile Federation, said in an interview with Radio “Sputnik” that: “Any modern battery has a specific service life, after which its charge begins to decrease, and of course loses it within a short period. The car battery is not excluded from this rule, as the duration of Its service depends on climatic conditions, in Russia it can work 3-4 years.”

He says: “The car battery has a specific life, so it must be replaced periodically every few years, because the plates in it degrade, so they do not work in cold weather in particular, and generally lose their charge quickly. This process begins 2-3 years after the battery has been used. This includes all batteries, regardless of their price.

The expert advises replacing the car battery at the first sign of a low level of charge, in order not to create a problem at the wrong time. This problem occurs especially in winter, when the car cannot be started on the first try. So when this problem recurs, it is better to change the battery. If the car has been parked for a long time for any reason, it is better to remove the battery from it to extend its service life. But before it can be returned to the car, it must be charged.
