Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Public Works announced that its cadres working in the field dealt with light accumulations of snow on the Al-Rajif-Dallagha roads (the royal road in Petra) and Al-Heisha.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Eng. Oroub Al-Abadi, said in a press statement, today, Saturday, that the erosion of dust was dealt with on the sides of the road in Al-Quwaira opposite the Security Center as a result of the heavy rains in the area, where the obstacles were removed immediately and did not affect the movement. She indicated that all the observations received were within the jurisdiction of the southern directorates, specifically in Aqaba, Ma’an and Petra, and they were dealt with immediately in coordination with the relevant authorities, indicating that the number of communications has so far reached about 31.
Al-Abadi added that a tourist vehicle stuck on the royal road in Petra due to snow was also dealt with, as work was done to tow their vehicle and secure their arrival to their destination, in coordination with the relevant authorities.
She indicated that the ministry, in coordination with the Public Security Directorate, removed the obstacles caused by 3 traffic accidents on the Debbat Hanout Road and the Negev Road in Ma’an, where the obstacles were completely removed, while traffic was closed on the Wadi Araba-Grendel road and traffic was diverted to the other lane until Completed removal of obstructions as a result of a traffic accident.
Regarding the state of the roads in the Kingdom, Al-Abadi indicated that all roads within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Public Works are passable, noting that the Negev, Rajif-Dallagha and the Negev Triangle of Ma’an (Royal Road) are traversed with extreme caution due to the snowfall currently, as the Ministry’s mechanisms are coordinating with partners. Work periodically to remove them to ensure the sustainability of traffic on them.
She called on citizens to exercise utmost caution and to stay away from torrential streams and valleys, especially in the Dead Sea, Wadi Araba and Aqaba, and not to hesitate to contact the ministry’s emergency rooms to report any observation or complaint.
