Today, Saturday, the Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Al-Hanaifat, inspected a number of pilot projects in the Kasbah of Tafila and the Basira Brigade in Tafila Governorate.
He was briefed on the reality of the projects that are being implemented on the outskirts of the “Al Tanour Dam”, including a project that contains 17 plastic and glass houses, in which 51 agricultural engineers are trained in a rehabilitation program on hydroponics and protected agriculture.
During his tour, Hanifat visited the “fish farming” project funded by agricultural lending in the “Al-Burabitah” area, and the “food industries” project for women in the “Grendel” area, also funded by agricultural lending within the Rural Development and Women Empowerment Program, in addition to a project by the Ministry of Agriculture to reforestation 15 dunums in the Basira area to be a garden for the area.
The Minister of Agriculture discussed with the Chairman of the Board of the Basera Emaar Foundation, its members and a number of farmers, the most important issues related to the agricultural sector, especially the establishment of a veterinary services office to serve livestock breeders, the provision of the Directorate of Agriculture with a veterinarian, the allocation of land to establish a building for the Foundation for the reconstruction of the brigade, the expansion of grazing areas, and the employment of the unemployed. For work on temporary projects.
Al-Hunaifat stressed that the ministry is working to achieve royal directives to increase interest in the agricultural sector through a lending plan to support rural development projects, empower women and develop pioneering projects with great added economic value, pointing to the allocation of 40 million dinars to support small projects through soft loans that contribute to reducing my problem. Poverty and unemployment.
And he indicated that the ministry is considering opening a branch of the Agricultural Credit Corporation in the Basira area, and an agricultural center in Qadisiyah, in addition to providing the Basira District with a veterinarian and allocating a plot of land to serve the local community through the municipality and the Council of Reconstruction.
Al-Hanaifat indicated that the ministry has allocated 1.5 million dinars for vaccinations to support the livestock sector, indicating that it is working to find a veterinary hospital in the “Abora” area in Tafila to serve livestock owners in the south, in addition to a hospital in both the center and north of the Kingdom.
He stressed the ministry’s continuation of zeroing the holdings of fake sheep, and the launch of the livestock census starting from the middle of this year through a mechanism that ensures the numbering of real holdings of sheep and the inventory of fake ones.
During his tour, in the presence of the representative of the Agricultural Engineers Syndicate, Ali Al-Masry, Al-Hanaifat met with the trainee engineers in the “Al-Tanour Dam” project.
The meeting discussed a number of challenges facing the training of agricultural engineers in this project, which included all the requirements of agricultural training and the cultivation of varieties of vegetables in its plastic and glass houses.
Al-Hanaifat stressed the importance of following up on the training program and working on extending it in order to increase the qualification of the trainees, while the trainees valued the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture in providing employment opportunities and training on modern agricultural patterns within the Tannour Dam project.
The meetings were attended by Representative Engineer Muhammad Al-Saudi, Deputy Governor of Tafileh Dr. Ismail Al-Sarayrah, Director of Tafila Agriculture, Engineer Hussein Al-Qattamin, Director of Agricultural Lending Luay Al-Hawamla, and President of the “Eamar Basira” Foundation, Dr. Saleh Abu Hammam.
