Former politicians and officials unanimously agreed on the great role played by the late Adnan Abu Odeh in a period considered one of the most difficult stages in the Jordanian state, noting that he represented the official and political thinker who was faithful to the site’s secretariat and provided advice to take the appropriate decision.

During a seminar held by the Jordanian Masarat Foundation for Development and Development on Monday evening, under the title “The Late Adnan Abu Odeh … The Thinker and Politician,” the former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Marwan Muasher, former Minister of Administrative Development Dr. Bassam Al-Amoush, former Minister of Culture Dr. Muhammad Abu Rumman, writer and expert in the economy participated in it. Politician Dr. Anwar Al-Khuffash, former MP Adab Al-Saud, media figure Hamdan Al-Hajj and media personality Osama Al-Rantisi praised the qualities that the late Adnan Abu Odeh had, and that he presented the Jordanian political position intelligently and without much meaningless talk, and that his words were always calculated and gave a certain meaning and significance.

Al-Ayasra: An unjustified silence accompanied the departure of Adnan Abu Odeh

At the beginning of the symposium, MP Omar Al-Ayasra said that talking about a national figure of the size of the late Adnan Abu Odeh, who is distinguished by many features, makes you feel that you need to get close to her and the notes he published, which provided very important information and positions.

Al-Ayasra was surprised by the official silence that accompanied the death of the late Adnan Abu Odeh, and that it was an unjustified silence against a personality the size of Adnan Abu Odeh.

Muasher: Political life is suffering from a decline that we must stand against

Former Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher emphasized in his speech that the culture of difference of opinion no longer exists in Jordanian politics and that difference of opinion does not constitute a cause for treason, pointing out that political life suffers from a decline that we must all stand against.

Al-Muasher added that Adnan Abu Odeh is only one of several experiences, while the space for freedom in the Jordanian state has become completely non-existent, using the words of His Majesty the King, “that difference is not a form of disloyalty, but rather that difference based on respect is a motive for dialogue.”

He added that many of the advantages enjoyed by Adnan Abu Odeh are no longer required by the state or the decision-maker in Jordan, and that they have been ignored for the past twenty years, “I felt sorry when I saw both the Senate and the House of Representatives mourning Adnan Abu Odeh, where were you when he was alive? ?!”

Muasher indicated that everything that happened to the late was ignored during this period because he wrote a book in 1999 in which he talked about the Jordanian-Palestinian relationship inside Jordan, in which he touched on the discussion of the Palestinian components in Jordan.

He pointed out that the last part of the book talked about the existence of a fanatical East Jordanian faction that views the Palestinian component as an enemy and that it must either get rid of this component or reduce its role in the country, pointing out that he mentioned some names; Among them is Dr. Ahmed Oweidi Al-Abadi and the writer Nahed Hattar. He mentioned many names at the time, referred to their lectures and what they said in letter or in their writings, and did not make any accusations against them or talk about them in an accusatory manner.

Al-Muasher said that despite Adnan Abu Odeh’s closeness to the late King Hussein, he did not benefit from that personally, pointing out that all these qualities did not intercede for him, and what he wrote is one of the most important documents of the history of Jordanian politics in terms of analysis in the strategic framework.

And he indicated that all the opinions he spoke about were spoken when he was at the helm of responsibility before the decision-maker and before His Majesty, pointing out that there is a party that believes that the cost of reform in Jordan is higher than not doing it; Therefore, it always tries to convince His Majesty that those who demand reform either do not know Jordan, are elitist, or want to “destroy the country.”

Al-Muasher indicated that this party or “school” believes that there is no one who demands reform from those who want the good for this country, and it is a tyrannical and dominant school that is able to thwart any reform project in the country, indicating that they do not belong to the “business” school of economics. The business is afraid to know what is right and is afraid for its interests, so it is silent.”

Al-Amoush: Abu Odeh was an important polarization, unlike what the country is witnessing today

The former Minister of Administrative Development, Dr. Bassam Al-Amoush, said in his intervention that Adnan Abu Odeh drew attention to the accuracy of his vocabulary and the selection of his words and said his conviction only, referring to the role for which he was recruited as an officer in the General Intelligence Department to be his task “political analysis”, and it was an important polarization on the Contrasting the polarization in the country today.

Al-Amoush pointed out that the polarization carried out by the state today is for those who submit or pacify, and it is not in the interest of the state. The real polarization is for the person who benefits the state, recalling an incident with the late that he wrote words in one of his analyzes when he worked in the Intelligence Department, and that the Director of Intelligence at the time deplored what he wrote and said How do you write this speech or analysis of His Majesty the King? The analysis was related to the danger to the king’s position, so it was booked with the Director of Intelligence and was not presented to the king to discover later on its validity and importance.

He explained that our problem with us, the former officials, is that if we speak frankly, we are described as angry because we are not in positions of authority. If we do not speak, we are asked to speak, then we are confused.

Al-Amoush pointed out that we have a law that has the right to obtain information, “I asked one of the officials in the royal court to give me the correspondence of the Muslim Brotherhood to His Majesty the King. For graduate students in the Department of Political Science, let us study its analyses.

He added that none of this information or analysis is given or given, and that the law on obtaining information is a law without existence.

Al-Amoush pointed out that he had a close relationship with the late at the university within lectures and seminars inside the university and the Royal Cultural Center, and the late was always the star of the meeting, “I used to meet him at his home more than once and I used him to write my books and I took the opinions that I heard from him.”

He continued: I wanted to hear from him and ask him to talk about history, and I could smell the life of the party in it, and he told me a lot about himself when he was with the communists and when he was with the editors, and he said that they influenced him a lot.

Al-Amoush pointed out that Adnan Abu Odeh was never a Palestinian for territorial purposes and did not accept to be Jordanian in the sense of territoriality; Because he believed that a strong Jordan was a strength for Palestine, and that he did not mind being one of the seventy members of the government; So I think his life was threatened by organizations.

He added: I think he was a political advisor in the truest sense of the word, and a school specialized in political analysis must be established for him, as he was expected according to the data, and his political analysis was like mathematics.

Al-Amoush indicated that Adnan Abu Odeh believed that the Islamists are part of the people of the country and they are loyal, but their area of political awareness needs to be developed, as he does not see that they have a political tool as it should.

Abu Rumman: Abu Odeh is intellectually stronger than Wasfi al-Tal..The right to information is a big lie

For his part, the former Minister of Culture and Youth Muhammad Abu Rumman confirmed that the late Adnan Abu Odeh was one of the personalities who represented a school that combines the intellectual, academic and political aspects, describing his school as a rare case in Jordanian politics.

Abu Rumman pointed out that Adnan Abu Odeh was popular and close to society. Because it is considered the true example of the Wasfi al-Tal school politically, as he was a contemporary of the former Prime Minister, the martyr Wasfi al-Tal, but he was stronger intellectually and not politically than the martyr Wasfi al-Tal.

He explained that “we have a crisis in Jordanian politics about the lack of an archive of political events, pointing out that the right to obtain information that Dr. Bassam talked about in his intervention does not exist, and it is a big lie, and there is no such thing in Jordan as the right to obtain information, from my personal experience.”

Abu Rumman indicated that it is necessary to have a series of events, seminars and lectures on the life of the late, in addition to coordinating a memorial ceremony worthy of the late, his stature, value and political thought.

He saw that the deceased represented the spiritual father of many of this generation and did not spare intellectually, scientifically or culturally this generation. Rather, he initiated dialogue and discussion and expressed his opinion, which constitutes an exceptional case in Jordanian politics, as many Jordanian politicians with the specifications of Adnan Abu Odeh, But the only difference lies in the fact that the deceased had a message and an interest in Jordanian and Palestinian affairs.

Khuffash: Abu Odeh was a key partner in the Martyr Wasfi al-Tal program

The writer in political economy, Dr. Anwar Al-Khuffash, said that the late Adnan Abu Odeh was a key partner in the program of the martyr Wasfi Al-Tal, and that the relationship, while characterized by harmony and harmony in many political trends and ideas.

Khuffash said that through his closeness to the late Abu Odeh, His Majesty King Hussein bin Talal, may God have mercy on him, did not treat him as a minister or government employee, but considered him as his diary, and he was an intellectual and thinker, and he loved these labels and had an instinct for curiosity and learning.

He pointed out that the life of the late and his previous work in the General Intelligence Department and his analyzes were attracting the attention and interest of the late King Hussein bin Talal, who decided to invite him to join the royal court as a special advisor to His Majesty.

Al-Saud: Abu Odeh represents the black box of Jordanian politics

The former MP, Adab Al-Saud, criticized the state’s behavior with many of its men who served the state in the most difficult circumstances and were wise and decision-makers and left it silently without the state paying any attention to them and their role, and that the late Adnan Abu Odeh was one of them.

Al-Saud indicated that today we are no longer witnessing political action by the state, and that its management is similar to managing a private company and not managing a state in an unconscious way, “and we regret what the state has achieved, and I wondered about the people who are authorized to betray others based on a difference of opinion or opinions. Then the accusation of treason.”

She said that the late Adnan Abu Odeh represents an unwritten history, and represents the black box with regard to Jordanian politics, and that his memoirs, perhaps if they were taught to political students, could give us something simple from his view of the political scene.

Al-Rantissi: Abu Odeh is a unique personality that deserves to be examined in detail

As for the writer Osama Al-Rantissi, he said that the personality of the late Adnan Abu Odeh is a unique personality that deserves to be examined in all its details, and that he presented the state with very important political analyzes, and that he wrote articles that expressed deep political thought and analysis.

Al-Bdour: Difference of opinion leads to accusations of treason

For his part, former MP Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badour said that the late Adnan Abu Odeh is considered a national symbol for everyone who deserves to be careful in reading the details of his life, and although many people have not lived with the man, he has a good biography and reputation in all political circles.

Al-Bdour referred to former Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher’s talk about the difference of opinion leading to accusations of treason, and this is one of the most prominent features of the stage, as we witness the repetition of this theory in all situations, whether the difference in opinion or through social media or even through disagreement with the opinion of the street. “She is considered a traitor.”
