Minister of State for Media Affairs and government spokesperson, Faisal Shboul, said that the number of coronavirus infections in Jordan has risen to 193,000 active cases, and there is no way to ensure that the infected are self-isolating at home or not.
Al-Shboul added that the only way to confront the epidemic is to take vaccinations, adding that the percentage of those who received the vaccine from the target group of 18 years and over reached 70 percent, which is a good percentage.
Al-Shboul pointed out that the number of infections in the past three days indicates that the wave has begun to decline, noting that hospitalizations three weeks ago amounted to 4 percent of infected cases, while it decreased during the past week to 1.5 percent.
However, despite the high rates of infection, this wave was not as life-threatening as the previous wave, according to Shboul, who revealed that the occupancy rate in hospitals during this wave did not exceed 30 percent.
