The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed that the committees are working on limiting frost damage to farms in production areas.

The ministry’s media spokesman, Lawrence Majali, indicated this evening, Sunday, that the preliminary figures related to the extent of the damage are nearing completion.

Al-Majali believed that “before the end of this month, there will be numbers that will be submitted from the Ministry of Agriculture to the Council of Ministers to work on studying them and approve the appropriate mechanism for compensating farmers through the risk fund.”

The Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Khaled Al-Hunaifat, revealed that the agriculture committees continue to check the frost damage of farmers in various agricultural areas in an accurate way to avoid corruption in the payment of compensation.

Al-Hanaifat said, this morning, that the committees will evaluate whether or not the farms have real damages as a result of the recent frost, and accordingly compensation will be disbursed.

He added that the damages caused by the polar depression will be determined, in preparation for the issuance of a decision by the Council of Ministers to pay compensation to those affected.
