An expert in oil and energy affairs, Engineer Hashem Akl, has criticized the low number of charging points for electric vehicles in Jordan.
In a post on his Facebook page, Akel indicated, this evening, Saturday, that “thousands of charging points for electric cars in public places around the world.
We have 29 charging points
And 25,000 electric cars.”
Akl had said in a previous post that “the electric car terrifies traditional cars.”
He explained that “the electric car has a large number of modern technologies and capabilities that are not found in other cars.”
Regarding these techniques, Akl mentioned that “among them are:
* The electric car is charged at home instead of fuel.
*Electric cars travel long distances that may exceed 200 km by charging the battery only once, and it depends on the size of the battery.
*Electric cars are environmentally friendly and less polluting compared to petrol cars.
* Low shipping cost compared to fuel price.
*It does not require a lot of money to maintain because it is based on a low-component engine.
The luxury that big companies work on makes them more attractive to customers.
Akl indicated that “it is expected that the import of electric and hybrid cars will decline after taxes and fees were raised.”
He stressed, “We have to join the world, because the day may come to end the era of traditional cars and electric car solutions, but the tax systems still deal with the old.”
Akl called on the government to “cancel or at least reduce taxes and fees on electric and hybrid cars,” stressing that this is “a national interest… a clean environment and a healthy citizen.”
