Saudi Arabia thwarts 5 drug smuggling attempts through Jordan

The competent Saudi authorities have thwarted 5 attempts to smuggle more than 1.4 million Captagon pills.

The Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority said that these narcotics were found hidden in a number of trucks and vehicles coming to the Kingdom, through the Haditha land port with Jordan.

The authority indicated that during a number of trucks and vehicles undergoing customs procedures and inspecting them through security techniques and live means “sniffer dogs”, these quantities of Captagon pills were found hidden in different ways, as the authority revealed that in the first attempt that was thwarted in modern customs, A total of 774,418 grains were found, which were hidden in the floor cavity of one of the “special” vehicles and in the vehicle’s fuel tank.

She added that in the second thwarted attempt, 272,093 pills were found hidden in separate places in one of the trucks coming to the Kingdom through the port, and in the same way as the previous smuggling, a third attempt to smuggle 269,767 Captagon pills in another truck was thwarted.

The authority pointed out that a fourth attempt was also thwarted at Al-Haditha port, in which 134,884 Captagon pills were hidden in the floor of one of the incoming trucks. The port also managed to thwart a fifth attempt to smuggle 40,697 pills, after they were hidden in the transmission refrigeration device of one of the trucks.

And she cautioned that after coordinating with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, in order to ensure the arrest of the recipients of the seized items, the two recipients of the seized items were arrested inside the Kingdom.
