Adviser to the Prime Minister for Health Affairs and the Corona file, Dr. Adel Al-Balbisi, said today, Tuesday, that health cadres are part of society, and that their injuries are present in light of the fourth wave of Corona, indicating that the ministry has plans to deal with an increase in injuries in hospitals.
Al-Balbisi explained that the ministry is ready to implement alternative plans to deal with the increase in the rate of injuries in hospitals, with the aim of filling the shortage for the continuity of work and the provision of treatment service to patients, calling for adherence to the health protocol, and the ministry’s circulars to preserve the health services provided, in addition to the demand for vaccinations in the three doses.
Al-Belbisi pointed out that “Omicron” is divided into two types (PA1 and PA2), where the Omicron mutant is three to four times faster spreading than the “Delta” mutant, and PA2 is slightly faster than the first type.
He expected the highest number of injuries to be in the fourth wave that the Kingdom is witnessing in mid-February, and it is likely that the number of injuries will decline before the end of this month.
Regarding the health system’s capacity for sick cases that require admission to hospitals, Al-Belbisi said that the number of beds in hospitals designated to treat patients with the Corona virus reached 4000 beds, as the number of cases receiving treatment in hospitals today is 975 cases, and the percentage of hospital admissions in the fourth wave is less than Previous waves, in light of the continuation of the national vaccination campaign.
He stressed that most of the cases admitted to hospitals are people who did not receive the anti-Coronavirus vaccine, pointing out that the infection of people with the “Omicron” mutant was very light for the recipients of the third dose. Al-Balbisi stressed the need to receive the third dose to raise immunity against the severity of the disease, calling for the demand to receive it, and to adhere to genuine prevention measures, especially wearing a muzzle, and staying away from gatherings, as the number of its recipients reached 420,000 people.
Regarding the delay in the arrival of the results of the PCR tests, he explained that the reason was due to a malfunction in the system designated to show the results, and it returned to work normally, stressing that the laboratories designated to analyze the tests operate 24 hours a day.
