Important government circular about hybrid cars in Jordan

The General Customs Department issued an important circular regarding the cancellation and replacement of hyper cars in Jordan.
The “Customs” circulated a government decision adding amendments to the decision to write off and replace “Hybrid” vehicles, whose engine capacity does not exceed 2500 cc, with a stipulation that the engine capacity of old cars is equal for the purposes of writing off.
In the circular, the Director General of Customs asked to work on exempting vehicles that run partly on electricity (hybrids), which are replaced in place of old cars that are written off and whose engine capacity does not exceed 2500 cc in return for writing off a vehicle in the event of replacement or cancellation from the special tax imposed on it under the system The original tax was subjected to 44% instead of 59%, regardless of the engine capacity of the vehicle that was written off.
The circular stated, “For the continuation of the exemption, it is required that 10 years or more have passed since the date of manufacture of the vehicle to be written off, in accordance with the approved write-off mechanism, and the written-off vehicle is ceded to the treasury and delivered to the concerned customs center. Its engine capacity exceeds 2500 cc in return for writing off a vehicle with the same engine capacity or greater in the event of replacement from the special tax imposed on it and subjecting it to the special tax at 44% instead of 59%.
