The Minister of Labor and former Minister of State for Investment Affairs Dr. Maen Al-Qattamin, commenting on the recent government decisions regarding reducing customs tariffs on many commodities, said that these decisions are among the requirements of the World Trade Organization.

In a video broadcast on YouTube, he added that increasing the purchasing power of Jordanian citizens consists in removing the sales tax.

He continued: These government decisions are not worth “obfuscation”, because they will not make the required difference, as much as it will deepen the problem, considering that its impact on the local industry will be devastating.

Al-Qatamine pointed out that Jordan, during the next five years, will be the country of one million unemployed people, through high unemployment rates and figures.

It is noteworthy that Al-Qatamine submitted his resignation from the government of Dr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh in March of last year, for reasons he cited in the investment file in the Kingdom.
