Closure of some tourist and archaeological sites due to the prevailing weather conditions

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities decided to close some archaeological and tourist sites where snow accumulated, for tomorrow, Friday, due to the prevailing weather conditions in the Kingdom, and the inability of workers in the governorates to reach their workplaces due to the closures on some main and secondary roads leading to these sites, and for the sake of safety visitors and employees.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities stated in a press statement today, Thursday, that the closed sites for Friday are: the site of Mount Al-Qalaa and the Roman Amphitheater in the Capital Governorate, Ajloun Castle and Mar Elias site in Ajloun Governorate, Tafila Castle, and Al-Shobak Castle.
She explained that the rest of the sites in the governorates will be open tomorrow, Friday, as follows: the ancient city of Jerash in the governorate of Jerash, the governorate of Aqaba, Zarqa and Madaba, and the site of Umm al-Jamal and Rehab in the governorate of Mafraq. In Irbid Governorate, it will be from ten o’clock to three.
And she indicated that the working hours in the Karak Castle and the Museum will start from ten o’clock until three, and in the Feynan Museum and the Museum of the lowest place in Karak Governorate, the working hours will be as usual, while the working hours of the museum in the Balqa governorate will be from nine to four.
The ministry expressed its appreciation for the national efforts made by the competent authorities while dealing with weather conditions, noting that the entire cadres of the ministry and the Department of Public Antiquities in the center and the field were placed on full alert to serve tourists and visitors, and provided communication around the clock to inquire about everything related to the precautionary measures taken. .
It affirmed that it is following up with the official concerned authorities the developments of the weather situation, bulletins and circulars issued by the competent authorities in this regard, and accordingly issues the necessary instructions to ensure the safety of visitors and tourists, whether in movement to and from the tourist and archaeological sites and visitor centers or within these sites.
The Ministry called for contacting the Operations Room of the Royal Administration for Environmental Protection and Tourism, to inquire about the roads and the prevailing weather conditions in the tourist sites, on the number 117777.
