The Islamic Action Front Party announced the suspension of its participation in the elections of the municipal and governorate councils and the Amman Municipality for the year 2022, due to what the party considered an accumulation of negative practices by the official side and the continuation of the approach of exclusion, restriction and political targeting, which undermines the appropriate environment for political participation, which has exacerbated From “the feeling of disappointment and general betrayal in the collective conscience of the Jordanian people, including the party’s bases.”

In a statement issued today after a session of its executive office, the party considered that the practices witnessed in the local arena bring to mind the atmosphere that preceded the 2007 and 2020 elections, which witnessed a flagrant manipulation of the popular will through engineering and falsification of election results, which He made those elections a burden on the system, the state, and society, and exacerbated the state of popular tension and the loss of confidence in state institutions.

The party expressed its hope that the official authorities would not adhere to their current approach towards the political forces, and that it would be consistent with the reform demands agreed upon by most of the political forces in the country, and that obstacles would be removed and an atmosphere conducive to political participation would be spread in the coming stages. ?

A statement issued by the Islamic Action Front Party regarding the elections of municipalities, governorates and the Amman Municipality for the year 2022

In its session held today, the Executive Office of the Islamic Action Front discussed its vision for the elections of municipal councils, decentralization, and the Amman Municipality for the year 2022, amid the data and changes the country is going through in various fields. In this regard, we affirm the following:

1) The party’s approach throughout its history and the history of the Islamic movement is based on participating in parliamentary, municipal, union and other elections in order to achieve the supreme national interest, work on the country’s renaissance and prosperity and protect it from the Zionist project that lurks in our present and future, and in pursuit of the desired reform and fighting Corruption and spoilers through these national institutions, based on the political vision of the party based on the political document of the Islamic movement issued in the past years, and the party has always been keen to open the door to dialogue with any of the components of the country, whether forces and parties National and clan personalities or official bodies, including participation in the Royal Committee for the Modernization of the Political System, in the hope of bringing about a shift in the laws and practices regulating political life in Jordan, albeit cumulatively.

2) The official side, and instead of perpetuating a state of positive atmosphere that it tried to spread after the issuance of the outcomes of the Royal Committee, some of which we agreed and rejected, others, it has passed constitutional amendments that circumvent these outcomes and clash. With the gains of the Jordanian people and the change in the shape of the political system towards absolute monarchy and the undermining of the general mandate of the government, and the subsequent practices that perpetuate the approach of exclusion and restrictions on freedoms, including the mobilization that took place against the representatives of the reform bloc in the parliament and what preceded it Arrest of youth protesting against normalization agreements with the Zionist enemy.
