The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Authority said that any increase in electricity bills is caused by an increase in consumption due to the current weather conditions, stressing that it has not implemented the electric tariff yet.

The authority said in a statement today, Tuesday, that the application of the new electric tariff will start from the first of April 2022, according to the decision announced by the government last August.

The authority confirmed that it is following up on the electricity companies’ commitment to the meter reading dates in accordance with the instructions approved by the authority, and this is verified through the authority’s cadres and the control campaigns it implements on the electricity companies.
