Documents .. “Jordan News” reveals a major corruption file in “Al-Balqa Applied”

“Akhbar Al-Jordan” electronic newspaper obtained from private sources a set of documents that reveal a major corruption file at Al-Balqa Applied University, since October 2020.

According to the documents, the former university president, Abdullah Sorour Al-Zoubi, attributed several financial rewards in the thousands of dinars to himself and to a number of administrative and teaching cadres at the university.

“Jordan News” contacted the university’s media spokesman, Ahmed Al-Manasir, to obtain a response about these documents, and the request has not been met so far.

The documents indicate that the rewards are related to the Employment Skills and Social Integration Project, as participation in building an electronic monitoring and evaluation system, which will include all sectors of vocational and technical education in Jordan.

The documents point to obtaining a financial grant from the Ministry of Education worth 65 million euros, the tenders and referrals that were put forward on the account of the project, and the last payment on the project was received in June 2020, with a value of 580 thousand dinars.

According to the documents, the money was disbursed so that “the organizers of this project are thanked and honored by disbursing symbolic financial rewards.”

The first document, dated 10/14/2020, includes a placement with a reward of 5,000 dinars for the university president, 3,000 dinars for Saad Abu Qadis, 2,500 dinars for Gandhi Anfuqa, and 1,500 dinars for a member of the committee participating in the establishment of the evaluation and follow-up system.

As stated in the second document, signed on the same date, the placement of the director of the Financial Affairs Unit at the university, Khaled Al-Jaafra, with the disbursement of: 5,000 dinars to the president of the university, 4,000 dinars each to Saad Abu Qadis and Gandhi Anfuqa, and 3,000 dinars to each of Ibrahim Tadros, Ghadeer Al-Shabaan, Abdullah Arabiyat, Rami Al-Hiyari and Khalil Daradkeh, 2500 dinars for Muhammad Khreisat, and 2,000 dinars for Mahmoud Al-Alawna and Muhammad Al-Qasir.

As for the third document, signed on 10-15-2020, in which Al-Zoubi attributed 75% of the mentioned rewards: 15,000 dinars to the president of the university, 5,000 dinars to Saad Abu Qadis, 12,000 dinars to Khaled Al-Jaafrah, 4,200 dinars to a member of the committee involved in establishing the evaluation and follow-up system, and 3,000 for each From Ramy Al-Hiyari and the call of the Daradkah.

Accordingly, 11250 dinars were disbursed to the president of the university, 4,000 dinars to Saad Abu Qadis, 12000 dinars to Khaled Al-Jaafra, 3150 dinars to Dima Al-Hiyari, and 1,000 dinars each to Rami Al-Hiyari and Nidaa Al-Dardakah, according to what the fourth document signed on 10-18-2020 showed.
