Can you imagine being away from your home for a few days to come back and find a lot of changes? This is what happened to a 70-year-old man who came out of a hospital recovery to find his home in a flat area in northwest England, surrounded by 178 homes, none of which were there before he left.

According to the British newspaper, “Metro”, Charlie’s house was the only property in the Wirral area near Merseyside County, which he stuck to and refused to sell despite being compensated with a new house and a sum of money as part of the plans to convert the area into an apartment complex, due to the transformation of the house over the years into a strange location. Attracting the curiosity of passers-by, he fell into an empty space after destroying all the old houses around him.

Charlie, 70, said that he was surprised by the shape of the area and the surroundings of his house with dozens of new homes, after he was absent for months to recover in the hospital, saying: “I spent most of the year recovering, and I could not believe the shape of the area and the houses after I left the hospital.”

The man revealed that the council had offered him £2,000 and a move to a new house, but he refused and stuck to his old house.

He added, “The only way for someone else to get their hands on the house is for me to say goodbye to this life.”

The old Briton had suffered critical head injuries as a result of a thief’s intrusion into his house, and had suffered from disorders, including poor memory, and was treated in the Brain Injury Unit.
