The Speaker of the House of Representatives supported the amendment of the constitutional text, which would reduce the term of the presidency of the House of Representatives from two years to a year.

Al-Daghmi said, “Now we return to amending the constitution, with regard to the term of office of the Speaker of Parliament, and I believe that the one-year term is better and sufficient, and I am with this amendment.”

He added, “There was no text on how the Speaker of the House of Representatives lost his position, and the addition that came in the amendment is commendable.”

Al-Daghmi supported the paragraph stipulating the dismissal of the Speaker of the House of Representatives in case he committed severe mistakes, and this is a welcome suggestion, and if the position becomes vacant and there is a mechanism for managing the House, adding, “These amendments are progressive and important, and I call on colleagues to approve them.”

In turn, Representative Saleh Al-Armouti opposed the issue of reducing the term of the presidency of the House of Representatives, saying, “This is a constitution and is not related to a person, a constitution that establishes and establishes the legislative authority, and I do not want any party to interfere.”

Al-Armouti added, “Is it reasonable for me to dismiss the Speaker of the House of Representatives? I oppose what the committee went to.”

And he added, “The Speaker of the House of Representatives may not be dismissed, and his resignation may not be accepted. I am with him being the Speaker of the House of Representatives for a period of 4 years, and with this we achieve strength for our Council and do not allow any party to interfere.”
