Parliament approves Articles Eight and Nine of the Constitutional Amendments

The House of Representatives approved the amendment of Article 54 of the Jordanian Constitution, according to Article 8 of the amended draft, which stipulates “preventing the Prime Minister of the resigned government from assigning his government after a vote of confidence in it from the House of Representatives to form the next government, with a majority of 97 deputies and a violation of 6 deputies.”
The eighth article of the draft amendment to the constitution of Jordan, which stipulates the amendment of paragraph 2 of Article 54 of the constitution to become: “If the council decides not to trust the ministry by an absolute majority of the total number of its members, it must resign and its head may not be assigned to form the next ministry.”
The Council also approved by majority Article 9 of the constitutional amendments, and the deputies refused to limit the decision to refer ministers to the Public Prosecution to the working minister only, and kept it as it was in the original text of the worker’s constitution and the previous one on the work related to his ministerial work.
Article 9 of the constitutional amendments is the article amending Article 56 of the Jordanian constitution, which limits the right of the House of Representatives to refer ministers to the Public Prosecution to working ministers only.
