The temporary committee of the Syrian Football Association requested the transfer of its home matches in the World Cup 2022 qualifiers from Jordan to the Emirates, as part of an official letter sent by the committee to the International Federation of the game “FIFA.”

The Syrian Federation indicated that its UAE counterpart had officially agreed to host the remaining two home matches for his country in the qualifiers against South Korea on the first of February and Iraq on the 29th of March.

The Romanian coach of Syria’s national team, Valerio Tetsa, had asked to change the supposed home land from Jordan to one of the Gulf countries to provide the appropriate climate.

However, the UAE federation’s approval to host the Syrian national team is linked to the approval of the International Federation, which has not yet announced its approval or non-acceptance of the Syrian request.

In addition, the Syrian Federation confirmed the establishment of a training camp for the Syrian national team in Aleppo for local players from Sunday until next Thursday, provided that it heads to one of the Gulf countries, and often Qatar, to set up a training camp from the second of January to the tenth of next January. .

It is followed by a final external training camp, without specifying its place, between the 20th of next month and the first of next February, in preparation for its matches with the Emirates and Korea in the seventh and eighth rounds of the first Asian group competitions of the decisive third round qualifying for the World Cup Qatar 2022.

Syria occupies the last sixth place in Group A with two points, compared to 16 points for the leader, Iran, 14 for Korea, 6 for the UAE, 5 for Lebanon and 4 for Iraq. (Hala news)
