Today, Wednesday, writer Zulekha Abu Risha commented on the retirement of the artist, Adham Nabulsi, and said that “people should not be silenced about commenting on an audio or written publication under the pretext of freedom of expression.”

Abu Risha said, on her Facebook page: “The retired artist has the right to retire, and to announce the reasons for this retirement, no matter how trivial or naive, but no one has the right to object to criticism of these reasons, unless they violate the law.”

Following is the text of Abu Risha’s post:

It is not permissible to silence people from commenting on an audio or written post, under the pretext of (freedom of expression). There is confusion in which even the wise, and of course those with corrupt intentions, between confiscating a person’s right to express his opinion on an issue, and criticizing this opinion (the artist’s retirement as a model). There is a difference between criticism of a right in a practice, and criticism of the content of a practice (the veil as a model).

In countless cases, opposing voices tend to consider any criticism of a subject expressed or practiced by a person as an objection to that person’s right to express or practice, and in this there is a great deal of confusion or fraud, unless he expressly declares the denial of the right In expression or practice that does not break a law.

Accordingly, the retired artist has the right to retire, and to announce the reasons for this retirement, no matter how trivial or naive, but no one has the right to object to criticism of these reasons, unless they violate the law. It is not valid here as an authoritative (freedom of expression) if the criticism focuses on the intellectual content of the phrase or behavior.
