The government plans to launch a program to train media speakers

The Minister of State for Information Affairs, the official spokesman for the government, Faisal Al-Shboul confirmed the congruence of the positions of the Kingdom and the Sultanate of Oman on various Arab and regional issues, pointing out the importance of continuing coordination and joint cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

This came during his meeting with a delegation from the Omani Journalists Association, today, Tuesday, at the Jordan News Agency (Petra), in the presence of its Director General, Faiq Hijazin.

The visit comes as part of a training program implemented by the Jordanian Media Code Academy, in cooperation with the association, and includes holding courses on professional ethics and media legislation, citizen journalism, mobile journalism, and preparation for talk shows, in addition to visits to media institutions.

During the meeting, which was attended by the head of the Omani delegation and board member of the Omani Journalists Association, Abdullah Al Jardani, Shboul stressed the strength of the solid Jordanian-Omani relations led by His Majesty King Abdullah II and his brother Sultan Haitham bin Tariq.

He stressed Jordan’s keenness to continue the work of the eleventh session of the Jordanian-Omani Joint Committee, which was not held last year; Due to the repercussions of the Corona pandemic, looking forward to strengthening media cooperation between media institutions in the two brotherly countries.

Al-Shboul pointed out that the government is launching a program to train and build the capacities of media spokespeople in ministries and government institutions, in partnership with the Jordan Media Institute, indicating that this training will be institutional and continuous, and once this experience matures, we will communicate with our Omani brothers to generalize and benefit from this experience.

In turn, Al-Jardani said that the Petra Agency visit comes within the training program carried out by the Omani Journalists Association for 16 Omani media professionals representing Omani media institutions.

Al-Jardani stressed the importance of the visit, which strengthens the existing relations between the two countries, which were laid down by His Majesty the late King Hussein bin Talal and his brother, His Majesty the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

He pointed to the importance of the work of the Jordanian-Omani Joint Committee, which enhances cooperation and coordination between the two countries in various fields, especially media and culture.

For his part, Hijazin expressed the agency’s pride in receiving delegations of Arab journalists, pointing to the importance of exchanging experiences and strengthening cooperation between the Jordan News Agency and Arab news agencies, in a way that serves the Arab media.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Omani delegation, during a tour that included the Arab and foreign editorial departments of the agency, was briefed on the mechanism of journalistic work from the beginning of writing news, reports and journalistic investigations through the process of editing and auditing and ending with its final broadcast on the agency’s official website and transmission, and its publication on its platforms on the means of communication Various social media, under the supervision of professional press cadres.

Colleague Hijazin briefed the delegation on the role played by the Jordan News Agency as one of the main sources of news for local and Arab media, in addition to holding training courses through its training center for employees of government institutions and students of journalism and media colleges in the Kingdom.

And he indicated that the agency hosts the training center of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (Fana), and is keen on exchanging news and other journalistic arts between Arab news agencies, thus contributing to raising the level and performance of Arab media.
