The Director-General of the Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Nizar Mhaidat, said that Jordan does not import any cheese and frozen yogurt from a factory in Egypt that the authorities seized there that uses wall paint in the production of cheese.

In a press statement issued by the Foundation today, Mheidat affirmed that Jordan imports milk, cheese and its products from other factories in Egypt, which are reliable and approved factories that meet the requirements of good manufacturing and are subject to the supervision of the official Egyptian authorities concerned in this regard.

He pointed out that the Corporation’s cadres at customs centers and border crossings work to check the documents of these consignments and the necessary health certificates accompanying them, and conduct a virtual inspection and withdraw representative samples from these consignments.

Mhaidt stressed that dairy products are highly targeted in Jordan, and are only approved after the results of laboratory tests confirm the health, safety and quality of the product and its compliance with its technical rules.
