A new study revealed that the owners of a certain blood group are more likely to suffer from memory problems and cognitive impairment, up to dementia, specifically a blood type whose owners constitute only 4% of the general population, and they are more likely to suffer from cognitive impairment, according to Express, and the agency “Sputnik”.

The researchers concluded that the rare blood type AB, which is owned by one in 25 people, is the most common blood type that leads to memory decline.

Blood type is just one of many factors that increase the risk of dementia, says study author Mary Cushman, MD of the University of Vermont School of Medicine in Burlington.

“Our study looks at the relationship between blood type and the risk of cognitive impairment, but several studies have shown that factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes increase the risk of cognitive impairment and dementia.”

The study was part of a larger research group that examined 30,000 people over three years. And I’ve found that blood type can affect your risk of developing several conditions that increase your chance of developing dementia.

It has been reported that people with blood type O suffer fewer strokes and have a lower risk of heart disease, reducing their chance of memory decline and dementia.

And one study of 400,000 people previously found that people with blood types A, B and AB had an 8% higher chance of having a heart attack and a 47% higher chance of developing a pulmonary embolism.
