A statement from Lunch and Medicine regarding the Egyptian “Jameed”

The Compass – The Director-General of the Food and Drug Administration, Prof. Dr. Nizar Mahmoud Mhaidat, clarified that Jordan does not import cheese and jameed from the cheese factory, which recently announced that it was working on the production of cheese using wall paint in Al-Menoufia Governorate in the sisterly Republic of Egypt.
Mahadat added in a press statement issued by the Corporation today, that Jordan imports milk, cheese and its products from other factories in Egypt, which are reliable and approved factories that meet the requirements of good manufacturing and are subject to the supervision of the Egyptian official authorities concerned in this regard, noting that the Corporation’s cadres at customs centers and border crossings work to audit documents. The necessary health certificates accompanying these consignments, conducting a virtual examination, and withdrawing representative samples from the consignments.
Mhaidat stressed that dairy products are highly targeted in Jordan, and these targeted products are not achieved until after the results of laboratory tests that confirm the health, safety and quality of the product and conform to the technical rules for the product.
