The Commander of the Eastern Military Region, Brigadier General Hassan Muhammad Annab, affirmed in an interview with Al-Rai, the armed forces’ complete control over the borders in the face of saboteurs, abusers and smugglers, so that the kingdom would enjoy security and stability, stressing that plans are ready to confront any threat in the area of ​​responsibility 530 km (on the borders of 530 km). three countries).

He added that since the beginning of this year, infiltration and smuggling operations have been thwarted, which led to the arrest or injury of many smugglers, and the seizure of unprecedented quantities of narcotics, ammunition and various weapons. The Jordanian borders to implement their plans, while 45 cases were thwarted inside the borders, arresting smugglers, killing and wounding a number of them, and seizing large quantities of narcotics, weapons, ammunition, devices and equipment used by smugglers.

Regarding the quantities that were seized, he referred to the seizure of (15) million Captagon pills, (14,377) hashish palms (765) kg of burnt hashish, (7000) tramadol tablets, (10369) different pills and (24) different weapons, and advanced communication devices. Different with smugglers and a number of cars, and due to the closure of the area in front of them on the ground through the efforts of the open units, they resorted to the use of drones, and a number of them were loaded with narcotics were shot down.

He stressed that had it not been for the unlimited support and diligent follow-up by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hunaiti, the achievements would not have been achieved, especially in the use of drones and modern technology in the performance of duties, as well as the training of all units of the region qualitatively in line with the duties, challenges and expected threats, adding that means were devised. New tools have had a significant impact on controlling the borders and thwarting smuggling and infiltration operations, in addition to upgrading the manpower system through training and qualification and the use of modern and advanced training methods.

He stressed that the tactical and security plans assigned to the region are being implemented to repel any aggression, whether external or internal within the area of ​​responsibility, and to prevent all forms of threats to and from the territory of the Kingdom and by force to maintain the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and to contribute to limiting the effects of natural disasters if they occur in coordination With the relevant authorities, and guarding some civil and military installations within the area of ​​responsibility

With regard to the duties assigned to the Border Guard Brigade, Brigadier General Annab indicates that all forms of infiltration and smuggling operations to and from the territory of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan are prevented by force, and civilians, shepherds, farmers and fishermen are controlled within the area of ​​responsibility (close to the border), as well as control and management of voluntary refugee crises. And coercion at the borders if they occur, in addition to the permanent monitoring of the borders through an integrated monitoring system day and night using advanced technological means.

He explained that while we are on the threshold of the bicentennial of the country, which is entitled, as desired by His Majesty, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, excellence in all fields as well as the military, according to a strategic view of the Chief of Staff, we are trying to transform challenges into opportunities and we have put the slogan of innovation, creativity and development in the eastern region since the beginning of the year, for example, in the winter There are challenges, including fog and dust, which are exploited by smugglers because they limit the efficiency of the monitoring systems’ work, but there are creative minds of engineers and non-commissioned officers who worked to create an alarm device that works effectively in those atmospheres? Putting barriers and inventing advanced means that would limit and impede smuggling and infiltration.

It is noteworthy that during the current year, airstrips were established on the borders of the Kingdom for rescue and air support. A medical evacuation exercise was conducted in cooperation with the Royal Medical Services and the Air Force, and readiness was tested.

The role of the eastern region is not only militarily limited, but there is a humanitarian role and support for the local community, according to Brigadier General Annab, represented in providing aid and assistance to the citizens we cherish, serving and protecting them, as assistance is provided to chaste families in coordination with the administrative rulers within the area of ​​responsibility, where 1500 parcels were distributed last week, As well as providing a helping hand and support to the security services and local community bodies in the event of natural disasters and weather conditions that require opening roads and sustaining daily life in villages and cities within the area of ​​responsibility.

He pointed out that under the directives of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, pits are being built to collect water within the border areas to benefit from them, whether for watering livestock or agriculture to benefit citizens within the desert areas, and to restore some homes for chaste families and provide them with the necessary furniture, and to provide some citizens with water in the summer.
