Syrian coach Nizar Mahrous is “very” close, according to Iraqi media reports, to signing and assuming the task of coach of the Iraqi Erbil team, with a contract that will continue until the end of the season.

Mahrous’s technical staff will include his compatriot Saed Sweidan as general coach, and Samer Rihani as goalkeeper coach.

It is expected that Mahrous will start his official duties as of next Wednesday of this week at the latest, especially since the team occupies the 18th place on the Iraqi league standings with 8 points, and an important match awaits him on Tuesday against Al-Sinaa team as part of the 14th round competitions of the league .

It is noteworthy that Mahrous had previously coached the Erbil team, and achieved with him the league title and runner-up position in the AFC Cup in 2011.

Mahrous is also considered one of the coaches who know the affairs of Jordanian football and its stars, as he previously trained the Jordan Youth Club, Al-Faisaly and Al-Jazeera in several previous seasons.
