The champion of the Jordanian national team for Paralympic weightlifting, Omar Qaradah, managed to win a gold medal at dawn today, Thursday, in the 49-kg weight competition, at the Paralympic Games currently underway in the Japanese capital, Tokyo.

The tick snatched his medal after successfully lifting 173 kg, surpassing his competitor, the 2016 Rio Olympics, Lee Van Cong of Vietnam, who lifted the same weight, but the preference was given to the tick because he weighed less.

It is noteworthy that the Qarrada medal is the first for Jordan and the Arabs in the current edition of the Paralympic Games, which witnesses the participation of 234 male and female players representing 18 Arab countries, while it is the third medal that Qaradah achieves in the Paralympic Games, after two silvers he achieved in the Beijing version in 2008 and Rio in 2016.

With this achievement, Jordan has two gold medals in the Paralympic Games, with a gold won by Jordanian player Maha Barghouti in table tennis in the Sydney edition in 2000.

Tomorrow, Friday, it is expected that the Jordanian participation in weightlifting will continue, as Muhammad Tarbash will compete in the 65 kg weight category.
