1.6% increase in inflation last month

The consumer price index increased during last November by 1.61% to reach 103.06 compared to 101.42 for the same month of 2020, according to what the monthly report on the general consumer price index issued by general statistics showed.

According to the report, the increase was mainly contributed by the transportation group by 1.00 percentage points, meat and poultry by 0.39 percentage point, fuel and lighting by 0.24 percentage point, and culture and entertainment by 0.13 percentage point.

On the other hand, the prices of a group of commodities decreased; The most prominent of which is the group of dry and canned vegetables and legumes by 0.65 percentage points, health by 0.08 percentage points, dairy and its products and eggs by 0.05 percentage points, and fruits and nuts by 0.04 percentage points.

On the monthly level, the general consumer price index for the month of November of this year reached 103.06 compared to 102.92 for the month of October of the same year, recording an increase of 0.13%.

According to the report, the most prominent commodity groups that contributed to this rise included the culture and entertainment group by 0.08 percentage points, fruits and nuts by 0.04 percentage points, meat and poultry by 0.03 percentage points, transportation by 0.02 percentage points, and health by 0.02 percentage points.

On the other hand, the prices of a group of commodities decreased; The most prominent of which is the group of dry and canned vegetables and legumes by 0.11 percentage point, and beverages and refreshments by 0.01 percentage point.

As for the general consumer price index for the first eleven months of this year, it amounted to 102.36 compared to 101.10 for the same period in 2020, registering an increase of 1.25%.

The most prominent commodity groups that contributed to this rise included the transport group by 0.66 percentage point, meat and poultry by 0.28 percentage point, tobacco and cigarettes by 0.12 percentage point, and oils and fats by 0.10 percentage point.

On the other hand, the prices of a group of commodities decreased; The most prominent of which is the group of dry and canned vegetables and legumes by 0.42 percentage points, fruits and nuts by 0.06 percentage points, clothing by 0.04 percentage points, and spices, food improvers and other foods by 0.02 percentage points.

With regard to the basic consumer price index for the month of November of 2021 (which is measured by excluding the most volatile commodities in their prices for the food, fuel, lighting and transportation group), it reached 69.30 compared to 68.56 during the same month of 2020, registering an increase of 1.07%.

On the cumulative level, the basic consumer price index for the first eleven months of this year reached 69.03 compared to 68.41 compared to the same period in 2020, registering an increase of 0.91%.
