On Friday, King Abdullah II will start a visit to Cyprus and Italy.

The King will start the visit from the Cypriot capital, Nicosia, where he will hold talks with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades on ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields, and the latest regional and international developments.

On the sidelines of the meeting, two cooperation agreements and a memorandum of understanding will be signed between the governments of Jordan and Cyprus.

The Italian city of Assisi will be the second stop of the King’s visit, where he will deliver a speech during the Lamp of Peace Prize ceremony for the year 2021, and hand the award to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

The King had received the award in March 2019 from former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in recognition of his efforts and tireless pursuit to promote fraternity, interfaith dialogue and peace in the Middle East and the world, in addition to Jordan’s efforts, under the leadership of the King, in hosting refugees.
