Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh said, during the parliament’s session today, Wednesday, that “we have blood, nothing becomes water… and no one is outbidding Jordan in its stances toward Palestine.”
There was widespread anger during Al-Khasawneh’s speech, and he was interrupted by many deputies by shouting and hitting the seats, while the Speaker of the Council, Abdul Karim Al-Daghmi, intervened to try to calm the deputies.
Al-Daghmi made it clear that Al-Khasawneh did not direct any offense to the House of Representatives, but rather said, “No one is bidding on Jordan.”
Al-Khasawneh reiterated: “Yes, no one is bidding against Jordan or the House of Representatives,” adding that Jordan made martyrs on the soil of Palestine.
Al-Khasawneh said, “Jordan, whether or not we arose, signed an agreement with Israel and was approved in this council. We are proud of the traditions of those who preceded us in the struggle when the struggle was active and obligatory.. Perhaps this struggle is still valid and obligatory.”
He added, “We do not mortgage anyone… we pay the price of positions in secret and in public, and on the solidity of these positions, many plans to liquidate the Palestinian cause have been truly liquidated.”
He explained that what was signed with Israel was a declaration of intent to study the feasibility of the energy-for-water agreement, and said, “We are not covering up anything,” and the text of the declaration of intent was published.
