It seems that those hoping for white Christmas celebrations in Britain will be disappointed this year, as forecasts show that the weather is likely to be foggy and cold, according to British Sky News, as the Met Office released its updated long-range weather forecast, which provides Predictions of conditions on Christmas and New Year’s Day.

As of Friday, December 17, the weather is expected to be ‘moderate and cloudy’ but dry, which means there will be no festive atmosphere in the snow this year.

Celebrations canceled

Restaurants and bars in the UK expect that Christmas cancellations made after measures were introduced to curb the spread of omicron in England will reduce their expected income during that period by 40%.

While hospitality venues have not yet been forced to re-impose measures such as social distancing or mandatory wearing of masks, industry leaders said the stricter restrictions have already caused irreparable damage to commerce, particularly in city centres.

Elsewhere, the UK’s Hospitality Trade Authority forecast profits will fall by as much as 40% in December, usually the most profitable month for venues so far, after data from last week revealed early signs that customers were backing away from their festive plans.

The UK’s head of hospitality, Kate Nichols, said the safest places for socializing at Christmas are those with the best hygiene and ventilation, insisting that the festivities should not be cancelled.

She said: “The official advice to the government since O’Micron’s arrival has been very clear: go ahead with your Christmas and New Year’s parties as long as you don’t show any symptoms of the virus. Covid“.
