The head of the Olive Oil Exporters Association, Fayadh Al-Zyoud, said that the 21st National Olive Festival and Rural Products Exhibition met 20% of the olive oil needs of the capital Amman and its suburbs, according to the association’s estimates.
Today, Saturday, Al-Zayoud explained that these estimates came as a result of the strict measures implemented by the olive oil laboratory on the festival grounds and the stages the examination is going through, in addition to the healthy tasting teams and the cooperation of the Food Corporation.
He added that the National Center for Agricultural Research employed the outputs of agricultural innovation through one of the agricultural innovation incubator companies, which relied on the barcode on each oil container entering the festival grounds, as well as the name of the farm and press, the result of the oil examination, and the authority responsible for the examination and preservation, which enhanced confidence between the merchant and the consumer.
He pointed out that the festival and exhibition were a qualitative leap in terms of space and health requirements, indicating that this is the largest marketing window for olive growers, as the amount of oil sold in the festival land amounted to 232 tons, and this figure constitutes a good percentage of the local production of oil.
