The Parliamentary National Steering, Media and Culture Committee called for the withdrawal of Amira’s movie, demanding that it not be adopted by any official body.
The committee denounced, in a press statement today, Thursday, through its chairman, Deputy Yasar Al-Khasawneh, the production of Amira, saying: “This is an act that does not express our values or the originality of the position of the Jordanian people in support of their brother in Palestine.”
Al-Khasawneh added that this film and the narration he presented does not serve the cause of the prisoners in Palestine, and does not reflect the reality of their suffering and the burdens borne by their families, but rather distorts their glorious struggle march, explaining that the only beneficiary of the production of the film and the novel it presents is the Israeli occupation.
He stressed that the committee will follow up on stopping the showing or mentioning the aforementioned film with the concerned authorities in this matter, stressing the need not to repeat such attitudes offensive to our national march with Palestine.
Al-Khasawneh continued, “We in Jordan are the frontier of steadfastness and defiance,” referring to the national constants and the need to confront everyone who thinks of distorting this image. He explained that the committee will summon the concerned authorities in this film to a special meeting soon in the House of Representatives.
