The government aims to raise the contribution of oil shale in electricity generation to 11% in 2022

In next year’s budget, the government expected that the contribution of oil shale to electricity generation would reach 11%.
The performance measurement indicator of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources included in the draft budget law for the next year, showed that the generation of electricity from oil shale did not record any percentage during the current year, although the indicative percentage of contribution for the current year was set at 12.8%.
The ministry expected, according to the data, that the contribution rate would rise to 10% in 2023 and reach 16% in 2024, as a target percentage.
The data showed that the contribution of oil shale to the total energy mixture expected for the next year amounted to 6%, as the ministry expected it to rise to reach 8% in 2024, as a target percentage.
It is noteworthy that the contribution of natural gas to the total energy mix reached 26% during the current year as a preliminary estimate, after the percentage set at 21%, and the government expects it to decline to 20%, and its stability at this ratio until the end of 2024 as a target.
Estimates of the contribution of renewable energy to the total energy mix for the next year rose to 26% after it was recorded for the current year, as a preliminary estimate of 20%.
The tables included in the budget indicate that the contribution of renewable energy continues to rise as a target value at 28% in 2023 and 26% in 2024.
