Yesterday evening, Tuesday, the Greater Ma’an Municipality, through its inspection tours of the markets, seized a ton of expired foodstuffs, which were destroyed by municipality cadres, according to the head of its committee, Khaled Al-Hajjaj.

Al-Hajjaj added to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) today, Wednesday, that the cadres of the Greater Ma’an Municipality are intensifying their inspection tours of the markets to ensure food safety and implement public health and safety conditions.

He called on citizens to ensure the validity of food supplies and various commodities and foods when purchasing them, and to inform the municipality of any observations, complaints or abuses, especially with regard to foodstuffs.

The pilgrims stressed the need for merchants and sellers to abide by the conditions of public health and safety with regard to the food items displayed in the shops, and the need for them to be fit for human consumption, stressing that violators will be dealt with in accordance with the laws and regulations in force.
