Gallup Supports Lebanese Creativity in “Nafs” Program

Gallup SAL is pleased to announce its partnership with the French Center in Lebanon, a subsidiary of the French Center.
This year, it presented the accompaniment of twenty craftsmen with creative skills who wish to improve and develop their profession within the project of residencies for artists.

“Nafs” is an initiative of the French Center in Lebanon, the French Center and the Association of Cultural Centers for Encounters, and is part of the ongoing emergency aid to Lebanon announced by President Emmanuel Macron in September 2020.
This program aims to enable 100 Lebanese artists who have been severely affected in the practice of their profession to continue their creative activity within the framework of cultural exchange with France. This program supports them by receiving them in France within artistic residencies aimed at urging them to develop a research and design project in various sectors of contemporary creativity.

Based on the idea of ​​finding sustainable solutions to provide prospects for a generation of Lebanese facing an unprecedented economic crisis, Gallup s.a.l., the exclusive franchisor of “Hermes” in Lebanon, participates in the ambition of the “Nafs” program, as its name indicates in the Arabic language “Breathe”. Thus, Gallup S.A.L decided to make a contribution in line with the values ​​and culture of “Hermes” that it has embodied and promoted in Lebanon since 2010, and therefore it will be presented to the French Center in Lebanon starting this year, and within the framework of “Nafs”, to take upon itself 20 candidates working Exclusively in the field of handicrafts for a month’s stay in France.
After Lebanon was previously famous for its goldsmiths, leather, carpentry, glasswork, weaving, silk, embroidery, and other crafts and skills, today it is losing many of these professions. Through its long-term contribution and promotion to this sector, Gallup SAL aims to re-transfer talents after their discontinuity. After the craftsmen gain experience, exchange and training during their stay in France, upon their return they will be able to teach new apprentices and thus rebuild a chain of professionalism that will be a source of employment and production.
Nafs defines the Lebanese craftsman as follows:
– To have been residing in Lebanon for at least five years and to practice the profession on Lebanese territory.
He must have a sufficient level of French or English to make the most of his stay.
To justify a previous act.
– To submit proof of professional experience in the concerned craft sector.
To be free from any professional activity during the month of residence.
– Not to be selected to participate in any other residency program affiliated with the French Center, the Association of Cultural Centers for Encounters, or the French Center in Lebanon.
There is no set age limit.
