Al-Rifai: The King is the guarantor of the outcomes of the Political System Modernization Committee

The head of the Royal Committee for the Modernization of the Political System, Al-Ain Samir Al-Rifai, reiterated that King Abdullah II is the guarantor of the committee’s outputs and recommendations.
Al-Rifai added, during his sponsorship of the national conference, “Youth Jordan 2030, Jordanian Youth Vision on the Outcomes of the Royal Committee to Modernize the Political System,” which was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs at Yarmouk University, today, Tuesday, in cooperation with the Al-Hayat Center – Rased, that “developing and modernizing the political system is a collective responsibility. From various sectors, official and unofficial institutions, including government, parties, parliament, civil society institutions, universities, youth and women, and this collective responsibility requires us to join hands with each other and work together for the benefit of the Jordan we want.”
During the conference, which was attended by the Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Musa Al-Maaytah and the President of Yarmouk University, Dr. Islam Massad, Al-Rifai said that the courage to make a decision is not related to a specific decision, but rather is the moral courage in assuming public responsibility, and facing public opinion, which has the right to be He is acquainted with all the details that affect his homeland and its major issues, and Jordanians have the right to express their opinion on any issues that affect their convictions and what they believe in.
He stressed that the issue of Palestine for Jordanians is always a top priority, and they have the right to express their rejection of everything that would prejudice a just solution to the Palestinian issue that guarantees the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state.
Al-Rifai said that the Jordanian identity is the national identity, which is the collective identity, regardless of the nomenclature and terminology.
He stressed that the committee did not work within the idea of winners and losers, but rather worked for the interest of Jordan, within the understandings and foundations of a constructive and effective dialogue, and the main pillar was pluralism and inclusiveness, listening to all opinions, and avoiding any exclusionary political disputes, because the country includes everyone and cannot exclude anyone. This was an approach to the work of the Committee.
Al-Rifai pointed to the importance of the role of Jordanian youth and women in the next stage, and the necessity of their involvement and empowerment in the political process, especially since they are a very large bloc of society, citing as an example that it is unreasonable that during the years from 1974 to 1993, only one woman succeeded in the parliamentary elections Before the quota, 11 women followed suit after the quota was introduced, while 830 male candidates succeeded during these years in a society of half of them women.
For his part, Maaytah confirmed that the government plays an important role in raising awareness about the outcomes of the committee that the government adopted and sent to the House of Representatives, and this will include a set of initiatives implemented by the ministry in all governorates targeting all societal groups.
He added that the government will work to defend the proposals it sent to the House of Representatives during the meetings of the permanent committees in the House and discussions with female parliamentarians and parliamentarians, stressing the need to adopt dialogue as a pillar in the process of political modernization, as it leads us to complete the Jordanian democratic building process, until we reach a national model based on opinion and participation. Jordanian citizens, stressing that our Jordanian state is continuing the process of modernization and development in line with the aspirations of the Jordanian people and the vision of the wise leadership.
For his part, Massad affirmed that this initiative aims to enhance awareness of the outcomes of the Royal Committee for the Modernization of the Political System, to know the orientations of Jordanian youth in the axis of political reform, and to activate the process of involving youth in the decision-making process. Let us prove that this constructive dialogue and these valuable propositions that will be discussed with our students today from this elite are nothing but the product of the efforts and keenness of those who love Jordan, always striving for its stability and sustainability as a good and giving model.
Massad pointed out that the efforts made by the committee are nothing but an approach and methodology that constitutes an addition, meaning and value that has been translated into a reference document and a forward-looking national vision of the political situation at the level of the draft electoral law and political parties, and the constitutional amendments legally related to the two laws and parliamentary work mechanisms, in addition to recommendations related to the development of legislation regulating local administration, and creating a legislative and political environment that guarantees the role of youth and women in public life, laying down the main features of the desired gradation to reach the Jordanian democratic model.
He said that what the committee presented, which included a clear representation of the colors of the Jordanian political, intellectual and partisan spectrum, and a number of other diverse sectors, was a national opportunity that promoted qualitative change and positive development, with the outputs it produced, which had national concern and concern present and at the top of the priorities and tasks.
For his part, the director of Al-Hayat Center “Rased”, Amer Bani Amer, said that this initiative implemented by the center comes in the belief in the need to enhance a safe space for dialogue for Jordanian youth and to express their opinion in making decisions that concern their country.
Bani Amer stressed the necessity of introducing young people to the outcomes, hearing their views and identifying the challenges that can be faced when implementing, expressing his pride in the youth participating in such initiatives, which would improve any outputs concerned with political, economic and social affairs.
On the sidelines of the opening ceremony, Massad Al-Rifai awarded Yarmouk University’s necklace, which is one of the university’s highest academic honors, and presented the university’s shield to both Maaytah and Bani Amer.
Al-Rifai met, in the presence of Maaytah and Massad, the deans of the faculties and the directors of the scientific centers at the university in the Hussein bin Talal Hall, in a general and extensive discussion on the outcomes of the Royal Committee for the Modernization of the Political System.
The National Conference program included a discussion session entitled: “Priorities for Political Reform in Jordan”, in which the Chairman of the Election Committee of the Royal Committee for the Modernization of the Political System Khaled Al-Bakkar, the Secretary General of the National Constitutional Party Ahmed Al-Shanaq, and Reem Abu, a member of the Women’s Committee in the “Royal Committee” spoke. Dalbouh, and Lina Al-Aloul, a member of the Youth Committee of the Royal Committee.
The conference concluded with a discussion of working groups on political reform and the vision of youth focused on the recommendations of the Royal Committee to Modernize the Political System and the priorities of political reform in Jordan.
